Post-it sketches. At work, when I'm waiting for a file to save or transfer or download, I'll just grab the nearest scrap piece of paper or post-it note and scribble away. Sometimes you get the best drawings that way, not trying to make it perfect, just having fun.
Below is a pirate design I did for a possible job for Powerhouse Animation, where I am happily employed. The design wasn't chosen, but I liked it, so I refined it, cleaned it up and colored it.
